WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY TO OFFER ONLINE WINTER SESSION COURSES

William Paterson University in Wayne will offer accelerated Online Winter Session courses during the University’s winter break from December 26, 2008 to January 14, 2009.

More than 50 courses will be available, including courses in music, economics, finance and global business, management, elementary and early childhood education, secondary and middle school education, counseling and special education, anthropology, English, geography and urban studies, history, languages and cultures, political science, psychology, sociology, women’s studies, kinesiology, mathematics, nursing, physics, and5public health. All courses will be taught online via Blackboard, the University’s online course management system.

Courses are open to William Paterson students as well as students from other institutions. Registration is limited to three credits or one course, whichever is greater, per student; previous experience taking online courses is strongly recommended. Students from other institutions are advised to seek prior approval for courses they wish to transfer back to their home institution for degree credit.

Registration for the online winter session continues through December 15. A list of course offerings and syllabi is available on the William Paterson Web site at www.wpunj.edu/wintersession. Tuition and fees for undergraduate students who are New Jersey residents are $620 for two credits, $870 for three credits and $1,120 for four credits. Tuition and fees for out-of-state undergraduate students are $1,040 for two credits, $1,500 for three credits and $1,960 for four credits. Tuition and fees for graduate students who are New Jersey residents are $1,080 for two credits, $1,560 for three credits and $2,040 for four credits. Tuition and fees for out-of-state graduate students are $1,700 for two credits, $2,490 for three credits and $3,280 for four credits.

Courses begin December 26 and end on January 14. The New Year’s Day holiday will be observed on January 1. Library reference assistance will be available by e-mail and by voice mail from noon to 4 p.m. December 26 through 31 and on January 2-4 and 10-11. Instant messaging reference service will be available from noon to 4 p.m. throughout the session. Beginning on January 5, reference assistance will be available on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in person in the library, as well as by phone and e-mail. Technology support for Blackboard also will be available online with a 24-hour response time except for weekends.
