A selection of recent artworks created by members of the art faculty at William Paterson University in Wayne will be on exhibit at the University’s Ben Shahn Galleries from September 15 through October 17, 2008.  Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Admission is free.  A reception for the exhibit will be held on Tuesday, September 16, from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

The exhibit, in Ben Shahn’s Court Gallery, will provide insight into the creative process of the University’s diverse art faculty, which includes painters, sculptors, printmakers, and designers in every media.  Works featured in the exhibit include examples of painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed media, collage, furniture design, photography, textile design and printmaking.

Faculty artists include Miriam Bisceglia, James Andrew Brown, Robert Castillo, Giovanna Checchetti, Zhiyuan Cong, Angela DeLaura, Leslie Nobler Farber, Ming Fay, Janet Filomeno, Barbara Friedman, Glen Guarino, David Horton, Alan Lazarus, Elaine Lorenz, Charles Magistro, Gina Miccinilli, Ken Morris, Lori Nozick, Lily Prince, Lauren Razzore, Michael Rees, Steve Rittler, Robin Schwartz, William Truran, and Tom Uhlein.

The exhibit is one of three shows on view concurrently in the Ben Shahn Galleries.  “Susan Lisbin:  Paintings and Sculpture,” on view in the East Gallery, features a selection of the artist’s abstract works. On view in the South Gallery is “Ben Wilson:  The Margin as Center.”  The exhibit provides an overview of the artist’s career beginning in 1930, with special focus on large abstractions created from the 1970s through the 1990s.

This exhibit is made possible in part by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts.

The Ben Shahn Galleries are wheelchair-accessible.  Large-print handouts are available. For additional information, please call the Ben Shahn Galleries at William Paterson University, 973-720-2654.
