William Paterson University Offers Accelrated Certified Financial Planner Program
--Students can complete required five-course sequence by mid-March 2010

William Paterson University in Wayne is launching an accelerated certified financial planning program for individuals interested in pursuing a career in the growing field of financial planning.

The non-degree certificate program, offered through the University’s Center for Continuing and Professional Education, begins Monday, November 23 with Income Tax Analysis and Planning, one of five core personal financial planning courses required by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards in order to enroll for the CFP certification exam.  The course will be held Monday through Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. through December 16 at the University’s Global Financial Services Institute located at 1600 Valley Road in Wayne.

The additional four courses—Investment Analysis and Planning, Estate Planning, Retirement Planning, and Insurance Analysis and Planning – will be offered in sequence, allowing completion of the five required courses by mid-March 2010.  Cost for each course is $949; textbooks are not included.

In addition to the five required courses, students must possess a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from an accredited college or university in order to achieve initial CFP certification.

Unemployed individuals may qualify for funding for this program through their local County Workforce Investment Board (One-Stop Career Center).  The William Paterson University program is the only CFP program authorized by the N.J. Department of Labor and Workforce Development for unemployed individuals who qualify for Individual Training Account (ITA) grants.

For additional information, or to enroll in the program, contact Maryann Padula at 973-720-3698 or padulam@wpunj.edu.
