The William Paterson University Choir will present Mendelssohn’s “Elijah” in a concert on Tuesday, December 8 at 8 p.m. in the Shea Center for Performing Arts on the campus in Wayne. Admission is free.

Mendelssohn’s oratorio, which was composed in the spirit of Bach’s and Handel’s major choral works, will feature William Paterson alumnus Thomas Courtright ’97, baritone in the role of Elijah. Other roles will be sung by student soloists and the performance will be accompanied by orchestra comprised of members of the Adelphi Orchestra and William Paterson faculty and students. Soloists include students Steven Zimmerman of Ridgewood, tenor; Laura Pearson of Glen Rock, soprano; Christa Cook of Butler, soprano; Stephanie Irven of West Milford, soprano; Shannon Maddolin of Dumont, alto; and Ezra Charles of Clifton, tenor. Stephen Bryant, professor of music and director of choral activities at William Paterson, will conduct.
