NATIONAL CIRCUS PROJECT TO OFFER HANDS-ON SKILLS TO PHYSICAL EDUCATION STUDENTS AT WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY ON APRIL 7
The National Circus Project will be on the William Paterson University campus on Tuesday, April 7 to teach hands-on skills from juggling to plate spinning to physical education majors. The training seminars, to be held in Wightman Gym on the campus in Wayne, will be repeated in three classes at 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
The hands-on workshop will teach ball and scarf juggling, plate spinning and balancing. Through non-competitive and self-motivating exercises, students will learn new skills to incorporate into their curricula when they enter the classroom. In addition to the fun factor, circus skills teach balance, eye-hand coordination and manipulation skills while encouraging responsible personal and social behavior.
The National Circus Project, founded in 1984, is a Long Island, N.Y., field division of Circus Education Specialists Inc. whose mission is to preserve and promote the traditional circus arts through education and entertainment.
The University’s undergraduate kinesiology program offers bachelor’s degrees in athletic training, exercise science and physical education.
