WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY’S CENTER FOR CLOSLEY HELD BUSINESS PRESENTS BREAKFAST PROGRAM ON DEALING WITH FINANCES IN A TROUBLED ECONOMY ON JANUARY 29
-----Discussion focuses on creative financing in troubled times

Variable costs, positive gross margins, and understanding working capital are among the topics to be discussed during a program to be held at William Paterson University in Wayne on Thursday, January 29 from 7:30 to 10:00 a.m. The event is conducted by the University’s Center for Closely Held Business and will be held in the café in the University’s building at 1600 Valley Road. The program fee is $40. Professional development credits are available for an additional $30.

Although “creative financing” is a loaded term in today’s troubled economy, experts in the field of private equity and mergers and acquisitions believe creative financing can help small and family businesses grow and prosper and, sometimes, survive.

Steven Pinsky, certified merger and acquisition advisor and head of private equity services practices at J.H. Cohn, will discuss the equity side of financing as it applies to small and closely held businesses. Pinsky will discuss transaction due diligence, understanding working capital, and how mastering these and other topics can make the difference between success and failure.

The Center for Closely Held Business at William Paterson University was developed by and for successful closely held and family business leaders. It draws on the strengths of the Cotsakos College of Business at William Paterson University—including faculty expertise and research, the William Paterson University Small Business Development Center, the College’s world-class facilities and the Russ Berrie Institute for Professional Sales—as well as local closely held and family businesses.

For additional information on the conference, or for reservations, visit the Center’s Web site at www.wpunj.edu/closelyheld, call 973-720-3934 or email chb@wpujn.edu.
