“The Elves and the Shoemaker,” a holiday musical for children by the Connecticut Children’s Theatre, will be presented on December 13-16 in Shea Center for Performing Arts at William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ. The show includes original music, sing-a-longs and audience participation.

The performance for the general public will be held on Sunday, December 13, at 2 p.m. Free pre-show activities, including arts and crafts related to the theme of the show begin at 1:15 p.m., and there is a post-show session to meet the actors and get their autographs. Parents are invited to bring their cameras. All tickets are $9.

Performances for school groups will be held on December 14, December 15 and December 16 at 10 a.m. Teachers will be admitted free with school groups only.

The play, an original musical adaptation, is a fairy tale about a poor shoemaker, his wife and a group of elves who help each other in the true spirit of giving during the holiday season. The production is appropriate for children in grades pre-K to 3.

Since 1991, the Connecticut Children’s Theatre and its New York-based artists have created 33 new musicals for hundreds of thousands of children, each with educator-approved themes for curriculum integration.

This musical event is part of William Paterson’s Vistas Series Family and School Scene program. The Vistas Series’ Family and School Scene programs are made possible in part by a grant from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts / Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts.
