INTERNATIONALLY RENOWNED SOPRANO TO PRESENT MASTER CLASS AT WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY IN WAYNE ON OCTOBER 29
Ashley Putnam, an American soprano known for her wide-ranging repertoire, and expressive acting, will present a vocal master class for William Paterson University students and singers from the area on Thursday, October 29 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in Shea Center 101 on the William Paterson campus in Wayne. Admission is free.
Putnam, whose career spans three decades, has performed in the world’s most prestigious opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera, Covent Garden, La Fenice, Vienna Staatsoper, and the New York City Opera. Her concert credits include performances with the New York Philharmonic, Pittsburgh Symphony, Concertgebouw, San Francisco Symphony, Los Angeles Symphony, Denver Symphony, and Philharmonia Baroque, among numerous others, as well as recitals with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival and more.
Her honors include invitations to sing at the White House for Presidents Carter and Reagan, the Washington Opera Artist of the Year Award, the Rockefeller Foundation Award, and the National Opera Institute Award. She placed first in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in 1976, which launched her performance career.
A graduate of the University of Michigan School of Music with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in voice performance, Putnam is a member of the faculty ay the Music Manhattan School of Music and has a private studio in New York. She has taught master classes throughout the country and is an adjudicator for the Metropolitan National Council Auditions.
