Students in William Paterson University’s Sketch Comedy Writing and Performing Course to Perform Saturday Night Live-style Skits on Monday, December 14
-- Comedy Courses Offered as Part of University’s Communication Program in Theatre and Comedy
William Paterson University students taking a class in Sketch Comedy Writing and Performing will present a fun-filled evening of sketch comedy on Monday, December 14, at 8 p.m. in Hobart Hall’s Martini Room.
Students will present their own version of Saturday Night Live-style comedy, all written and performed by the sketch comedy writing and performing class. Admission is free and the public is invited.
“We want to give student comedians the opportunity to perform in a professionally produced showcase,” says Stephen Rosenfield, who teaches comedy courses at William Paterson and is director of the American Comedy Institute in New York City.
For the last seven years, William Paterson students have trained as stand-up comics, comedy writers, and actors as part of the theatre concentration. In fall 2008, the theatre concentration evolved into the theatre and comedy component of the bachelor’s degree in communication with an increased curriculum in the comedy area.
The event is produced by the Communication Department at William Paterson as part of University Theatre. For more information, contact Elizabeth Stroppel at 973-720-3342.
