WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY FACULTY JOIN THE NATIONAL TEACH-IN ON GLOBAL WARMING ON FEBRUARY 5
William Paterson University faculty will participate in the National Teach-In on Global Warming on Thursday, February 5, 2009, joining millions of Americans who will gather to discuss concrete policy options to address global warming. The University’s events will run from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. in University Commons Room 216 on the campus in Wayne. Admission is free.
The National Teach-In is a grass roots effort to focus attention on global warming during the first 100 days of President Barack Obama’s administration. To date, nearly 700 institutions in all 50 states will hold teach-in events on February 5 to discuss clean energy solutions to global warming.
William Paterson’s Teach-In will open with panel discussions by faculty, staff and students focusing on topics such as the science of climate change and the political, economic and cultural challenges to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. “The First 100 Days,” a webcast produced by the National Wildlife Federation, will be shown at 12:30 p.m. Following the webcast, a panel will focus on activism and a solutions-driven dialogue. At 7:00 p.m., the feature-length film, The Last Winter, a thriller about global warming directed by Larry Fessenden and starring Ron Perlman and James LeGros, will be screened in the University Commons Multipurpose Room.
