William Paterson University Launches New Web Site for Cultural Events
William Paterson University announces that its College of the Arts and Communication’s University Performing Arts has launched a new brand and Web site, www.wplive.org, to promote the University’s vast array of concerts, theatrical productions, comedy shows, gallery exhibits, and lectures. An exciting feature of the new Web site allows patrons to purchase event tickets online directly from the University’s Shea Center Box Office.
“The performing arts play an integral role at the University,” says Raymond Torres-Santos, dean of William Paterson’s College of the Arts and Communication. “WP Live provides a distinctive showcase for the cultural activities on campus and an opportunity to connect to the broader community.”
The secure site offers purchasers of tickets for events in Shea Center for Performing Arts the opportunity to see the actual location of their seats via a dynamic map. Tickets for events in Hunziker Black Box Theatre, which often hosts theatre productions, can also be purchased online through the site.
“We offer more than 200 events each year, including concerts by musicians such as rock legends David Crosby and Graham Nash; Family and School Scene series; major jazz artists in our Jazz Room Series; theatrical productions; exhibits by contemporary visual artists in the Ben Shahn Galleries; and our Distinguished Lecturer Series, which presents exciting speakers on topics from arts and culture to sports and politics,” says Christine Reed, director of University Performing Arts. “The enhanced branding of our performing and visual arts and our new Web presence at www.wplive.org help us demonstrate to our students, faculty, alumni, donors, and the surrounding community the importance William Paterson University places on the arts. In these tumultuous times, the arts become even more important to us all.”
