WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY OFFERS DISCOUNTED TUITION ON MORE THAN 700 SUMMER SESSION COURSES
—Tuition discounted nearly 20 percent for undergraduate students, nearly 10 percent for graduate students

In an effort to help keep the cost of higher education more affordable for students, William Paterson University in Wayne is offering more than 700 summer courses at discounted tuition rates of nearly 20 percent for undergraduate students and nearly 10 percent for graduate students.

“During these difficult economic times, when many families have to tighten their budgets, we wanted to help our students, as well as visiting students, continue their education while reducing their costs,” says Stephen Hahn, associate provost at William Paterson.

Tuition for in-state undergraduate students is $275 per credit, a reduction of 18 percent from the regular per-credit tuition of $337.  Tuition for in-state graduate students is $515, a reduction of more than 9 percent from the regular tuition of $569 per credit.

Among the 700 courses are more than 150 courses taught completely online, eliminating the need for commuting.  Summer session runs from May 26 through August 12 in every discipline.  Students can choose from courses offered for three-, four- or six-week sessions, and can earn up to 12 credits.  Courses are available during the day and evening, as well as online.

“Our goal is to provide William Paterson students, visiting students from other colleges and universities, and high-achieving high school students with as much flexibility in possible in terms of scheduling and variety of course offerings,” says Stephen Hahn, associate provost.  “Students can complete degree requirements, or take prerequisites for other courses.”

On-campus housing in the University’s air-conditioned residence halls is available for summer session students.  Students can also take advantage of recreational facilities on campus, including an indoor competition-sized pool and a multipurpose Rec Center with fully equipped weight and fitness rooms.  Parking on campus is free.

A list of course offerings is available on the William Paterson Web site at www.wpunj.edu/summersession.
