Senior Curator at Museum of Modern Art to Present Art Lecture at Ben Shahn Galleries

Robert Storr, artist and senior curator in the department of painting and sculpture at The Museum of Modern Art in New York City, will present a lecture titled "The Long and the Short on Gesture: Painting as Drawing" at William Paterson University on Thursday, April 12. The lecture will be held at 2 p.m. in the Ben Shahn Galleries on campus, 300 Pompton Road, Wayne, New Jersey. The event is free and open to the public.

Storr has curated several exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art and is currently preparing a "Gerhard Richter Retrospective" planned for the spring of 2002. From 1991 to 2000, he was coordinator of "Projects," a series of exhibitions devoted to the work of contemporary artists.
Storr has been a contributing editor for "Art in America" since 1981 and his criticism appears regularly in "Art Press," "Art Forum," "The Village Voice," "The New York Times" and other publications.

On April 26, Robert Ryman, a New York City artist, will present a lecture at the Ben Shahn Galleries titled "What Painting Is."
