William Paterson University to Host Annual Thanksgiving Dinner for Senior Citizens

William Paterson University, in cooperation with numerous individuals, community organizations and social agencies from cities in northern New Jersey, will hold its Annual Senior Citizens Thanksgiving Dinner on Saturday, November 20.

The event will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Machuga Student Center Ballroom on campus. Michelle White, an anchor/reporter for News 12 New Jersey, will serve as host. More than 350 guests are expected to attend. The purpose of the dinner is to recognize the contributions of senior citizens to the community and demonstrate the University's commitment to serving the northern New Jersey region.

The Reverend Dr. Deborah Partridge Wolfe, a leader and innovator in education and public service in New Jersey, will receive the William Paterson University Lifetime Achievement Award during the event. Wolfe, whose academic career has spanned five decades, was the first and only African-American woman member of the New Jersey State Board of Higher Education, and the first African-American woman to be elected its chair. An ordained minister in the American Baptist Church, she is currently vice president of the American Baptist Convention.

In addition to a traditional turkey dinner, guests will be treated to entertainment by the William Paterson Gospel Choir, the William Paterson University Jazz Ensemble, the CASYM Steel Orchestra, and a dancing demonstration by Angela Aguirre and Meyer Kaplan, both professors at the University. More than 100 volunteers, including William Paterson faculty, administrators and students, will staff the event.
The dinner was organized by William Paterson's Office of Special Adult Programs. For additional information, call the University's Office of Special Adult Programs at 973-720-2601.
