WILLIAM PATERSON TO HOST WRITERS CONFERENCE Exploring the theme "International Writing and Literature," the conference will be held from 8:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Atrium on the university's campus in Wayne. In addition to the keynote speech, the event will include morning and afternoon writing workshops on the topics of poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction, screenwriting, computers and writing, and publishing, conducted by faculty of William Paterson's English Department. The registration fee is $50, $30 for graduate students. Komunyakaa has published eleven books of poems including "Neon Vernacular: New and Selected Poems 1977-1989," winner of the 1994 Pulitzer Prize, and "Thieves of Paradise," a finalist for the 1999 National Book Critics Circle. He is a professor at Princeton University and a recently elected chancellor of the Academy of American Poets. William Paterson's distinguished English faculty will lead the morning and afternoon writing workshops. Participants include: Brad Gooch, author of three novels, "Zombie00," "The Golden Age of Promiscuity" and "Scary Kisses," and a biography, "City Poet: The Life and Times of Frank O'Hara;" Mark Ellis, a poet who teaches courses on the sociology of police work; Christopher Weaver, who has published essays on reading, writing and interpretation as collaborative processes; Christine Turczyn, a Fulbright scholar who writes for literary journals; Corri Wells, director of the freshman composition program at William Paterson; June E. Roberts, an expert on Caribbean literature; Philip Cioffari, who has published fiction in "The North American Review" and other magazines and journals; and Theresa Foy DiGeronimo, an award-winning freelance writer who has written 30 non-fiction books and over 50 magazine articles.
