| Conference Offers Holistic Approach to Asthma Managing asthma through holistic methods that could diminish the overuse of medication will be the focus of a daylong conference to be held at William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey on Friday, May 12, 2000. "New Concepts in Asthma Management" will be held at 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Paterson Room and auditorium of the campus library. The cost is $99 and includes lunch and instructional materials. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., and the conference kicks-off with a keynote speech by Betsy Thomason, a respiratory therapist, who will present "Asthma and the Art and Science of Breathing," at 9:30 a.m. in the auditorium. Workshops will be held from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. and again from 1 to 2:15 p.m. Topics to be discussed include nutritional and herbal support for asthma; stress management for children; and non-drug therapies for asthma. A panel discussion, which will include a question and answer session, will be held from 2:15 to 2:45 p.m., followed by a wrap-up and evaluation session which concludes at 3:30 p.m. William Patersons Center for Continuing Education and Distance Learning (CEDL), Department of Exercise and Movement Science, and Health and Fitness Outdoors, Inc. sponsor the event.
