CO-AUTHOR OF NEW YORK TIMES BEST SELLER "THE CENTURY" TO LECTURE AT WILLIAM PATERSON

Todd Brewster, co-author of the New York Times best seller "The Century," the independent companion volume to the 27-hour 1999 television series hosted by Peter Jennings on ABC and the History Channel, will present a multimedia lecture on Wednesday, September 29, 1999 at William Paterson University in Wayne.

The event, which will feature a selection of the book's more than 500 rarely seen photographs, as well as video clips from the television series, begins at 12:30 p.m. in Shea Center on campus. Admission is free and open to the public.

"The Century," which has sold more than one million copies since it was published in November 1998, is the product of six years of exhaustive research by the staff of ABC News. Through pictures and compelling eyewitness interviews with men and women who watched history unfold, both the book and the videos explore the pivotal events of the twentieth century. In addition to serving as co-author of the book, Brewster was senior editorial producer for the ABC-TV and History Channel series, and editorial producer for "The Century on Friday," a weekly segment on ABC News' "World News Tonight with Peter Jennings."

Brewster, who joined ABC News in 1994, began his career at American Heritage in 1977. He later moved to Life magazine, where he was a writer and editor for more than 10 years. While at Life, Brewster was the principal correspondent on the collapse of Communism, and covered various assignments in Eastern Europe. Brewster served as writer and co-producer of the PBS documentary series "America's Political Parties," and from 1992 to 1998, was editor-in-chief of Cooper Union's award-winning quarterly journal, "At Cooper Union."

The lecture, presented by William Paterson's Office of Campus Activities, is made possible through a gift from the John Victor Machuga Foundation. For additional information, call the Office of Campus Activities at 973-720-2271.
