William Paterson University to Host Annual Thanksgiving Dinner for Senior Citizens

Four hundred senior citizens from northern New Jersey are expected to attend William Paterson University's Third Annual Senior Citizens Thanksgiving Dinner on Saturday, November 11.
Hosted by the University in cooperation with numerous individuals, community organizations and social agencies from cities in northern New Jersey, the event will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Machuga Student Center Ballroom on the campus in Wayne. The purpose of the dinner is to recognize the contributions of senior citizens in the community and demonstrate the University's commitment to serving the northern New Jersey region.

Featured during the dinner will be the presentation of the William Paterson University Lifetime Achievement Award to a senior citizen who has made a significant contribution to the community.
Lester McKee, director of the Office of School to Career and College Initiatives, Newark Public Schools, and former director of the University's Office of Minority Education, will serve as host. In addition to a traditional turkey dinner, guests will be treated to entertainment by the William Paterson Gospel Choir and the CASYM Steel Orchestra, and a dancing demonstration. More than 150 volunteers, including William Paterson faculty, staff and students, will staff the event.

Thirty-three community organizations and social agencies from cities in northern New Jersey have been invited to send guests to the dinner. Transportation will be provided by individual organizations as well as the Passaic County Freeholders; emergency services will be provided by Wayne and the City of Paterson.

The dinner was organized by William Paterson's Office of Special Adult Programs. For additional information, call the University's Office of Special Adult Programs at 973-720-2601.
