Four senior citizens will be honored for their contributions to the community when they receive the William Paterson University Lifetime Achievement Award during the University's Third Annual Senior Citizens Thanksgiving Dinner on Saturday, November 11.

The honorees are Anna Daube Freund '63, professor emeritus of communication at William Paterson; Maria Magda O'Keefe, executive director of the Multipurpose Service Center of Paterson; Walter Porter Jr., Passaic County Freeholder; and Katherine Taylor, co-founder and director of the Senior Citizen Commission's Golden Age Project in Newark.

The event will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Machuga Student Center Ballroom on the William Paterson campus. More than 400 senior citizens are expected to attend the dinner, which was created to recognize the contributions of senior citizens in the community and demonstrate the University's commitment to serving the northern New Jersey region. The dinner is hosted by the University in cooperation with numerous individuals, community organizations and social agencies from cities in northern New Jersey.

In addition to a traditional turkey dinner, guests will be treated to entertainment by the William Paterson Gospel Choir and the CASYM Steel Orchestra, and a dancing demonstration. More than 150 volunteers, including William Paterson faculty, staff and students, will staff the event.
