As a result of a new partnership agreement recently signed with Windesheim University in The Netherlands, students and faculty from the University’s Department of Special Education and Counseling will have the opportunity to participate in an international program that will encourage the exchange of new ideas and philosophies regarding special education programs.
William Paterson University music students and faculty who traveled to China earlier this month will present a special Midday Artists Series concert that will include music performed during their trip. The concert will be held on Thursday, October 30 at 12:30 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room of the John Victor Machuga Student Center on campus.
Mavis Staples, gospel and soul legend, will give a rare concert performance on Saturday, November 8 at 8:00 p.m. in Shea Center. Work sessions for educators interested in learning about the discipline of lesson study, a professional learning process for teachers to examine and improve their instructional methods and enhance the quality of education in the classroom, will be held at William Paterson on November 20 and 21, 2008. Master sportswriters Frank Deford, Mike Lupica, and Selena Roberts will join together on November 21, 2008 for “The Art of Sportswriting,” an entertaining behind-the-headlines conversation about their experiences and insights to be held as part of William Paterson University’s Distinguished Lecturer Series. |
University Signs Partnership Agreement with Dutch University
Alumni and their families came to William Paterson on Saturday, October 11 for a fun-filled day of fall events hosted by the University’s Alumni Association. Events included a carnival, a barbeque, and a tour of the new University Commons building on its first anniversary. The day was capped by the traditional homecoming football game, this year against Morrisville State. The Pioneers, under first-year head coach Jerry Flora, defeated Morrisville State 27-14 before 2,000 fans at Wightman Stadium.
H. Bruce Franklin, one of the country’s leading cultural scholars, will discuss his latest book, The Most Important Fish in the Sea: Menhaden and America, during a lecture on Thursday, November 13, 2008 at 3:30 p.m. in the Cheng Library Auditorium at William Paterson University in Wayne. Admission is free. The program is supported by a grant from the William Paterson University Alumni Association. | |||||||||
Football Returns Home, Faces Buffalo State Nov. 1 William Paterson (2-5, 1-5 NJAC) will play two of its final three games at home, beginning with a contest against Buffalo State (0-7, 0-6 NJAC) Saturday, Nov. 1. Kickoff at Wightman Stadium will be at 1:00 p.m.
| No. 14 Field Hockey in Hunt for NCAA Tournament Bid, to Host Kean in Regular-Season Finale Nov. 4
The No. 14 William Paterson field hockey team (13-3, 3-2 NJAC), in the hunt for an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, will finish the regular season at home Tuesday, Nov. 4, against Kean at 7:00 p.m.
The sixth-seeded William Paterson volleyball team (19-7, 3-5 NJAC) will play at third-seeded Ramapo in the first round of the New Jersey Athletic Conference Tournament Tuesday, Nov. 4, at 7:00 p.m. The Pioneers will finish regular-season play Thursday, Oct. 30, at Cedar Crest at 7:00 p.m. |
