Description:
Carol Rosen's family was able to escape Germany before the Holocaust. Her mother worked for the United States government during WWII, translating correspondences from prisoners of war. Rosen created The Holocaust Series of twenty artist's books after visiting Yad Vashem Memorial Park in Israel. She relied on first-hand witness accounts-historical photographs, documents, and literature-to build an intricate web of connections between image and text, in which the spectral nature of the Holocaust and her own second generation response to the trauma of the Shoah are palpable for the viewer.
