William Paterson University students taking a class in Sketch Comedy Writing and Performing will present a fun-filled evening of sketch comedy on Monday, December 14, at 8:00 p.m. in Hobart Hall’s Martini Room.
Cherish the Ladies, the most sought-after Irish-American group in Celtic music, will perform traditional Irish music and dance in a holiday show, Celtic Christmas, on Sunday, December 6 in Shea Center for Performing Arts. The show will be held at 2:00 p.m. Pre-show activities begin at 1:15 p.m. “The Elves and the Shoemaker,” a holiday musical for children presented by the Connecticut Children’s Theatre, will be held on December 13-16 at Shea Center for Performing Arts. The show includes original music, sing-a-longs and audience participation. Sheila Collins, political science, was recently named to the international advisory board of the Toda Institute for Global Peace and Policy Research, and was invited to become a participating member of the Global Ecological Integrity Group (GEIG). Both groups bring together international scholars from diverse disciplines who are engaged in cutting-edge research on issues of war and peace, and ecological concerns. Read More
Virginia Taylor, associate professor, marketing and management, died on November 11. She was appointed to the faculty in September 1998. Taylor taught a wide variety of marketing and management classes including courses on organizational theory, international management, global marketing, and money and banking. |
William Paterson University will offer accelerated Online Winter Session courses during the University’s winter break from December 26, 2009 to January 15, 2010.
Homelessness and poverty are among the most important issues currently facing America according to Ralph da Costa Nunez ’72, president of the Institute for Children and Poverty, and president and CEO of Homes for the Homeless, who has made fighting poverty and helping the homeless the center point of his career. Forty-eight students from 20 universities in 15 states participated in the National Sales Challenge, an intense series of selling competitions and workshops held at William Paterson University in Wayne November 5 through 7.
A big, green bus devoted to spreading free information about money and finances visited the University on October 20 as part of a yearlong national tour. The tour was open to both students and members of the community. Communication Department to Hold Telethon to Raise Funds for Charity
The Communication Department’s student-run television station WPTV-6 will be holding its semiannual telethon to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation on December 3 from 10 a.m. to midnight. |

William Paterson senior wide receiver Joel Rivera (Hoboken, N.J.) has been invited to represent Team USA in the 2009 Tazon de Estrellas (Bowl of the Stars) to be played on Saturday, Dec. 19, in Monterrey, Mexico. Rivera also will participate in the inaugural Division III Football Senior Classic Saturday, Dec. 5, at Salem Stadium, in Salem, Va.
The William Paterson men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams have both started the season with 5-1 records, and will return to action Saturday, Dec. 5, at FDU-Florham.
Men's Basketall (2-1) to Play Five Of Next Seven at Home The William Paterson men’s basketball team (2-1) will play five of its next seven games at home, including a contest against York (N.Y.) Saturday, Nov. 28, at 3:00 p.m.

The second-seeded William Paterson women’s soccer team (13-7-3, 5-2-2 NJAC) finished its season by winning the 2009 ECAC Women’s Soccer Metro Region Tournament with a 2-1 overtime win against top-seeded NYU Nov. 15.
